State police say Gauley Bridge chief sought witness in abuse case

A state police report alleges Gauley Bridge Police Chief Lee Jones approached a male juvenile witness about the sexual assault claims against him. The juvenile and another unnamed boy accuse Jones of touching them. the indictment spans multiple sites from a service station apartment to a hotel room and a vehicle. Jones denies the charges and has pleaded not guilty. additional charges exist in South Carolina and Kanawha County.

West Virginia Libertarian to keynote at D C convention

West Virginia Libertarian Dr Wallace Johnson will headline the third party convention in Washington DC. The Beckley physician and House of Delegates candidate will discuss ballot access efforts, present “Lessons from the Mountains,” and summarize Libertarian history in WV as the gathering runs Thursday to Sunday with 11 WV members attending and a national platform vote planned.
