Raleigh County lands at least 2.6 million in state budget digest
Raleigh County is slated to receive no less than 2.6 million dollars for 35 projects in the state budget digest signed Tuesday. The spread includes 1,000 dollars for the Raleigh County Farm Bureau and up to 1 million for the College of West Virginia to develop affiliations with West Virginia University and other state colleges. House Finance Chair Harold Michael notes total digest funding is about 20 million, with Raleigh County taking more than 10 percent. He adds that 4.8 million for senior centers and programs went to centers that did not request funds, including a 600,000 allocation to Hardy County’s aging program. The large pork item cited is 2 million to develop the South Branch area.
