Fayetteville zoning panel backs Sun Mountain Resort expansion

Fayette County commissioners unanimously approved a zoning change paving the way for Sun Mountain Resort expansion along Route 19 north of Mount Hope. Plans include purchasing adjacent land for an amphitheater, a 250-room hotel, conference center, golf course, housing, RV park, and driving range, with cost-saving terrain relocation and better soundproofing for concerts. The project seeks additional Appalachian Regional Commission grant funds and resumed excavation after plan fine-tuning.

Raleigh County man pleads guilty to domestic battery duo

Dennis Adkins of Raleigh County pleaded guilty to two counts of domestic battery. Judge H L Kirkpatrick sentenced him to two consecutive one year terms, with no fine. He broke into Laura Rosenbaum's home and assaulted her, then attacked his wife Laura Adkins while she held a child on a 911 call. The couple is divorcing.
