Stanaford robbery turns out to be setup
State police say an alleged armed robbery at a Sunoco in Stanaford was staged as a grand larceny. Clerk Randi E. Cook, 23, of Scarbro, was arrested in Oak Hill on grand larceny and providing false information, held on 10000 bail. Three suspects in Morgantown are linked to the case.

Beckley inmate gets two more years for prison contraband
Fred Joseph Brunet, 44, an inmate at the federal prison in Beckley, was sentenced to an additional two years for possession of contraband. He pled guilty in May to possessing heroin, hydrocodone and oxycodone at the prison while serving a 17 1/2 year sentence for various controlled substance offenses. Judge Joseph Goodwin in Charleston imposed the latest sentence.

State Begins Elkins Bypass Corridor H segment
CHARLESTON AP Two contracts totaling 19.7 million dollars were awarded Thursday for a 2.33 mile section of Corridor H forming a northern bypass around Elkins. Vecillio & Grogan Inc. and Ranger Construction Industries Inc. will grade drain pave and install signs on 1.65 miles from the current Elkins end as part of the Weston to Virginia border project.
