Vehicle crash injures woman and granddaughter in Monroe County
A woman and her 7 year old granddaughter were injured when their Ford Explorer left state route 122 near the Monroe Summers county line and crashed into an embankment and a tree. The grandmother was trapped for about 45 minutes and both were from Nimitz. The 7 year old was pulled from the wreck by a bystander and taken to a residence while the driver was airlifted for treatment. Rain slick roads may have contributed as investigators probe the crash with multiple emergency responders on scene.

Flippo murder conviction records opened to public
Fayette County Circuit Judge John Hatcher informed the court on June 12 that Flippo’s criminal case file is not sealed and remains open for inspection and copying by anyone who inquires. The clerk’s office will charge a copying fee. Flippo’s appeal is handled by Kanawha County public defender’s office after his former attorney, David Schles, stepped down.
