Water Safety Council trains in new dry suits
Nicholas County Water Safety Council members completed a training session for dry suit certification with a $25,000 state grant funding six full suits from Sarge's Dive Shop Summersville. Divers trained in a pool and pond environment to handle rescues in hazardous materials environments and freezing water.

CASE seeks volunteers across Summers County to boost county services
Community Action of South Eastern West Virginia announces Volunteers Connecting Communities to mobilize trained volunteers for agencies countywide. CASE will partner with the Family Resource Network and Retired Senior Volunteer Program, recruit from civic clubs churches and businesses, provide training and evaluations, and form a 12 member council to guide the effort. Volunteers may gain job training and potential employment, with no job replacement, and outreach aims to rural areas beyond Hinton. For details call Brad Eagle at 466 5018.

Board of Education plans public hearing on budget
The Raleigh County Board of Education will hold a public hearing at 3 15 p.m Tuesday on the proposed fiscal year 1998 99 budget. The budget may be reviewed at the central office from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today. Also at 3 p.m. Tuesday, the board will reconvene a recessed meeting from March 24 to approve the levy rates. Following the meeting and public hearing, board members will conduct transfer hearings.
