Feathered Friends Benefit From High School Service Project
A group of 12 students and two teachers from Christian Boys Academy in New Jersey aided the Brooks-Three Rivers Avian Center in West Virginia after January and February snowstorms damaged five flight cages. Volunteers cleared brush and repaired the large 100 by 20 foot mesh cage, while directors Wendy Perrone and Ron Perrone introduced resident birds, including Twister the barn owl and Nic the red-tailed hawk.

State Gifts Part of State Spending
West Virginia state offices spend taxpayer funds on personalized pens pencils key chains and other trinkets as public relations tools. Through this fiscal year the state treasurer and agricultural commissioner have provided items totaling about 11 000 and 8 500 respectively for flags and keepsakes, with Douglass supplying writing implements to students and Perdue maintaining supplies.

Bones become boy's science fair triumph in Chesterfield
Gavin Kasser, a 10 year old from Chesterfield and Miriam School Webster Groves, collected more than 2100 bones including cow, raccoon and rabbit bones stored in boxes in his garage. His science fair project measured calcium in bones at different ages and won first place in the 51st Greater St Louis Science Fair earning a $100 Monsanto award.
