Changes at Sandstone Falls Forestall Camping Parking
The National Park Service reports mixed reactions to Sandstone Falls changes at New River Gorge National River. A 3200 foot boardwalk opened in 1993 to protect the rare flatrock plant community while offering accessible views. Camping near the boardwalk entrance is no longer allowed due to safety conflicts and crowding. picnicking remains allowed outside the parking perimeter with tables provided.
