Suspicious Fire Destroys Abandoned House in Bluefield
A fire at 1306 Franklin St. in Bluefield destroyed an abandoned house and damaged two neighboring homes on Tuesday. Firefighters arrived within minutes to find the vacant structure engulfed, with minor damage to adjacent occupied houses. Damages totaled about 3,500 dollars for the two residences. Firefighters contained the blaze in under an hour as authorities labeled the fire suspicious due to prior sighting of children near the building. A separate incident involved a service cable with an electrical short at 312 Carroll St. causing approximately 2,500 dollars in damage. No injuries were reported.
