Defector Soviet Pilot Lands Mig 25 in Japan

A Soviet air force lieutenant landed a Mig 25 at Hakodate airport in northern Japan and asked police to help him defect to the United States. He fired once in the air, was captured on immigration charges, and provided few details about a reported base in Siberia. Palestinian hijackers end 18 hour Cyprus siege

Three Palestinian gunmen who hijacked a KLM DC9 caved in near Larnaca Cyprus after an 18 hour ordeal that kept 81 hostages including three Americans in suspense. Kelley to remain FBI director amid marriage plans
