Two U.S. Tuna Boats Seized by Ecuador in Disputed Waters
In Salinas Ecuador two U.S.-owned fishing vessels were seized for allegedly entering Ecuador’s 200 mile coastal zone. The Nautilus 830 ton skippered by Benjamin Maugta Jr. carried 165 tons of fish while the Freedom 367 ton, commanded by Valentin Gamba, held no catch. Both ships were taken to Salinas port for inquiry.
