Koreans Agree to UN Control of ROK Forces

The Republic of Korea’s ruling military junta agreed to return all ROK armed forces to United Nations Command control under Gen. Carter B. Magruder who would use operational control only to defend Korea. Magruder released several units and front line troops while the junta began easing some restrictions after martial law.

Two New Jersey Women Killed Police Hold Suspects

Plainfield officers detained two men, Joseph Maxey 23 and Lorell Parks 22, after the bodies of Eleanor Ewell and Helena Tyson were found near a Plainfield reservoir. Investigators said both women were raped and slain in a lonely road location after a car pursuit from a Scotch Plains area.

Counties Must Decide On Water Project

Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties must choose soon whether to take water from the $1.75 billion state project. State director William E. Warne said the California Aqueduct’s size from the Delta to Riverside will be shaped by these counties' decisions, with a deadline of December 31, 1963 for local agencies to contract for water.

Six Teens Die In Post Graduation Road Crash

SAFFORD Arizona six teenagers returning from a graduation celebration were killed in a collision with a 33 year old man near Clay Knolls 12 miles south of town. The victims include Jerry Goodman 18 Kay Fyffe 16 Joan Sacramanton 14 and Wayne Wamsley 33 among others. The 1960 luxury car struck Goodman’s 1953 sedan at about 70 miles per hour on a rutted single lane road. The crash also killed a seventh person.

Four Die as Greyhound Truck Crash in Nevada

UPI reports a Greyhound bus rear-ended a state highway truck on U S 40 near Emigrant Gap California, killing the truck driver R W Thornburg 27 and three bus passengers Jane Bosworth Reynolds 57 Anthony Gaffie 19 and James F Dagel 21.
