Hearst trial delayed as Bailey concedes mistake

San Francisco UPI report says Patricia Hearst’s bank robbery trial paused for a special hearing on evidence seized from the SLA hideout after Los Angeles ruled the Harris apartment search lacked a warrant. Mozambique closes border with Rhodesia on war footing

Mozambique President Samora Machel announced a total ban on contact with Rhodesia and declared a war footing. He ordered air raid shelters built nationwide and economic sanctions to be imposed while warning Rhodesian forces near the border. Diplomats view the move as a full blockade.

Ice Storm Paralyzes Michigan Across Regions

The worst ice storm in 28 years paralyzed southern Michigan and left over 500,000 utility customers without power.
