Turkish senator jailed for drug smuggling case
A French court sentenced Kudret Bayahan, a 60 year old Turkish senator, to 15 years in prison for hiding 321 pounds of raw morphine in his car. His chauffeur Ibrahim Ikier received the same sentence and the pair were fined $596,000 in total. Prosecutors said Bayahan was detained in Menton in March after driving from Istanbul. The men claimed no knowledge of the drugs.

Catholic Church attacks abortion ruling in call for limits

New York UPI reports William Schrager a 30 year old assistant district attorney in Queens was charged with sexually abusing a 21 year old woman at knifepoint and threatening a 15 year old girl with a knife. Police identified Schrager as the suspect in both incidents.
