Tehama Crusade Opens Campaign With Breakfast Pledge

Tehama County United Crusade began its 1971 72 drive with a Crystal Tavern breakfast as volunteers pledged 10 percent of the 450 00 target. Former Arizona governor Samuel P Goddard urged members to worry about social problems and support tax deductible donations for Crusade type efforts. About 40 local business and government representatives attended as Crusade President J A Barber said the goal should be reached though more is needed to meet area needs.

Sheriff Lieutenant Accepts New Position Under Gov Reagan

Lieutenant Robert Hill, longtime Tehama County Sheriff's staff since 1965, resigns to join Governor Reagan in Sacramento as law enforcement co ordinator for the capital's civil disaster branch. He will revamp mutual aid policies covering riots and prison disturbances. Hill sat a statewide exam for the post. previously he served as a Los Angeles deputy noted for undercover drug-abuse work. His wife Ruth will join him with their children later.

Youths Flee From Soft Drink Machine Burglary

Police report two juveniles aged 16 and 17 fled Sunshine Cleaners at 420 South Main Red Bluff after prying open a vending machine. Officer Baer arrived at 12 40 am and the pair surrendered. Four to five dollars were taken, three crowbars found nearby, and a car tied to the suspects located on Walton Drive. The business operates as a cleaning and laundry facility left open at night.
