Sponsors include the Red Bluff Tehama Chamber of Commerce Tehama County and Red Bluff.
Capt Ernest Medina, acquitted of murder involuntary manslaughter and assault in the My Lai massacre, says he bears no bitterness toward the Army and plans to resign. The verdict leaves Lt William Calley Jr the sole convicted officer from My Lai. Medina testified he lost control but did not know of civilian deaths and would have stopped it if aware.
In Saigon sources say President Nixon ordered the large U S air raids in North Vietnam to target fuel depots to blunt a dry season push of troops and supplies southward. Earlier communiqués cited SAM sites and anti aircraft guns overflights and Laos routes.
The Red Bluff Lions Club will display flags on traditional holiday dates despite Nixon era changes. Flags will fly Columbus Day Oct 12 and Veterans Day Nov 13, with other unaltered dates including Washingtons Birthday Feb 22 and Memorial Day May 30.
Red Bluff police investigated two thefts reported yesterday. Connie Rajanen said a battery was stolen from her Chevrolet El Camino parked on Pine Street Tuesday evening. Gary Barbour reported a tape player stolen from a car at Red Bluff Union High School.
