An AP report states three Yugoslav gunmen freed 83 passengers from a Swedish jet in Malmoe and flew to Madrid where they surrendered. Six Croatian prisoners freed by Sweden aided the passengers. police then held the nine at Madrid police headquarters.
A U S report by an ICAO subcommittee outlines a mechanism to punish nations harboring air terrorists with possible loss of international air travel rights. The action would take effect in 1974 after the ICAO panel sent its report to the parent body.
A jury awarded Mrs. Anna Charboneau 19098.23 against St. Elizabeth Hospital after a three day trial over alleged negligence in March 1970 that injured Charboneau while aiding another patient, Willa Mae Roberts, who had fallen from bed. The hospital countered for debts and was awarded 90.00.
Fair through Sunday with temperatures in the upper 90s to low 100s. Winds are variable at 5 to 15 mph with a Monday outlook staying fair. Observed highs yesterday reached 97 while mornings dipped to 57 with river levels at Bend Bridge 19.0, Red Bluff 15.6, Tehama Bridge 199 7, and Woodson Bridge 166.8 feet. Mavis E. Hines of Anderson says the nicest people imaginable live in Red Bluff after a stalled car incident. Three miles south of Cottonwood transmission trouble stopped her car, a Red Bluff man named James Waddell signaled for help and fetched aid from Anderson. He retraced to assure help was coming, proving to her that nice people exist in Red Bluff.
Many friends paid final respects to Anna Elizabeth Womacks 87 at 10:30 a.m. Thursday services in the First United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Darrell C. Hoyle. She died Sept. 12 in a Red Bluff convalescent hospital after 71 years in the Corning area. Pallbearers were Ernest Peterson Robert Peterson William Peterson Elmer Taylor William B. Crawford Ray D. Siler. Palm Rebekah Lodge No. 250 officiated at the graveside with Ira Goings Mildred Swillington and Margaret Jones. Burial in Sunset Hill Cemetery under Hall Brothers Mortuary.

Washington Kissinger said progress was made on economic issues European security conference and mutual force reductions in Europe and on strategic arms talks after talks with Soviet leaders in Moscow and North Vietnamese envoys in Paris. He did not claim progress on ending the Vietnam war.
