Mrs. Lula B. Martin resigns as Camp Tehama Committee secretary treasurer effective Sept 22. Mrs. Alice Williams of Corning is appointed successor. Martin, a Squaw Hill resident, helped found Camp Tehama and guided its growth from a 40 acre tract with early USDA Forest Service permit to a full youth facility. A history she compiled chronicles camp origins, construction, bylaws, and contributions.

Highway officials map four county upgrade projects
State highway leaders and local chambers gathered at the Crystal Tavern to hear four immediate or near term projects. Major items include a Route 36 West humps fix near Red Bluff at 80 000 dollars and a 2 990 000 expressway along Route 36 E from Lassen Camp area for a three mile span. Additional expressways cover Route 99 near Red Bluff and Route 36 east of South Fork and near Cannon Road with eight point four and eight point six miles respectively. Also planned are Route 36 relocation studies and rights of way acquisitions estimated at nine million dollars with oleander planting south of Red Bluff on Interstate 5.
