Tehama County Supervisors approve a 13 cent tax rise from 2.80 to 2.93 dollars to finance a 1968-69 budget totaling 7,282,016 dollars. The building program gains 10 cents, projected to raise about 84,000 dollars this year, with earmarked reserves and a sizeable fund balance cited.
Red Bluff hosted a busy air show at Bidwell Field with fifty-one aircraft, 900 to 2,500 spectators, and events including aerobatics, helicopter rides, model contests, and prize allocations. Notable participants included Rod Meckler, Harvey Itzaina, Mike Purinton, and Jack Holcomb. Awards span spot landing, helicopter prizes, model aircraft, and home built designs.
Three Tehama County board members Bill Flournoy Rudy Brodnansky and Dale Pickell deny plans to close Tehama General Hospital. They oppose ballot inclusion and cite state fire protection upgrades and a new Health Planning Commission studying hospital needs with no denial of services.
Mrs. Edna Cleland aged 65 of Cottonwood remained listed in satisfactory condition at Redding Memorial Hospital after a bullet wound to the head. Her husband James M. Cleland, 79, was reported dead after the apparent incident Saturday.
Mr and Mrs Norman Clifton celebrate 60 years of marriage at their Red Bluff home 1350 First St amid well wishes. Clifton a retired postal employee served 36 years in the Red Bluff post office. they have a son Edward J Clifton and a daughter Mrs R J Briscoe.
AP reports a Hanoi spokesman said a bombing halt alone cannot secure peace in Vietnam. He added U S spy flights naval raids and artillery against North Vietnam must end. A separate item notes Huey Newton was convicted of voluntary manslaughter in Oakland.
Heavy battles return to the central highlands as South Vietnamese Brig. Gen. Truong Quang An is killed. His unit repulsed an attack on Duc Lap Special Forces camp and killed 47 North Vietnamese. U.S. armored columns and South Vietnamese militias report additional enemy losses as the siege at Duc Lap and surrounding áreas continue.
The county health department suspends tonight immunization clinic due to Admission Day. The clinic will open tomorrow afternoon from 1 to 2 p.m. Located on West Walnut Street behind Tehama General Hospital.

Striking workers at Kimberly-Clark in Anderson rejected a proposed two year wage and fringe package ending Sept 1 1970 by 135 to 90 after night and day talks with management and a federal mediator. The dispute makes the Kimberly-Clark strike the company’s longest at 92 days.
