Power across six New England states is cut by five percent for four hours daily starting Monday due to fuel shortages. General Motors halts intermediate and full sized car production for one week in December at 16 plants as a Reuters report notes.
President Nixon held talks with energy adviser John A. Love and Melvin Laird at the White House after returning from Camp David to discuss emergency steps to ease energy shortages. He is nearing a decision on possible actions next week, with a Sunday gas station closure among options under consideration.
President Nixon announced a nationwide TV address for Sunday at 7 p.m. EST to outline energy crisis measures. He warned of sacrifice by Americans as part of the plan.

Some New York Thruway stations restricted purchases to 10 gallons despite authorities saying fuel supplies were adequate.

Flight officials stress the nil chance of losing another stabilizing gyroscope while tackling battery work for the solar observatory and assessing a gyro malfunction.
Gov. Ronald Reagan departs Los Angeles on a 12 day trip to promote U S exports as Nixon s emissary. He will meet Indonesia s Suharto and Singapore s Lee discuss foreign policy and fundraising in Australia for the Red Cross. The trip runs through Dec 5 with meetings in Jakarta and Singapore.
