Californians vote on Prop 1 a Reagan backed constitutional amendment to limit state taxes and cut the income tax. The outcome could shape Reagan's 1976 presidential prospects and Democratic Assembly Speaker Bob Moretti's gubernatorial ambitions.
Secretary of State Henry Kissinger ended a first round of talks with Arab leaders in Rabat with cautious notes about progress. Israel warned of renewed fighting as Kissinger prepared to meet Egyptian President Sadat in Cairo.
Intermittent rain expected through Wednesday with little temperature change. Highs today and tomorrow in the mid to upper 50s, nights in the low to mid 50s. southerly winds 15 to 30 mph. New York City firemen walked out at 8:30 a.m. joining a citywide strike over a proposed 2000 dollar annual raise for a one year contract despite a State Supreme Court injunction. 10900 firefighters joined as 30000 hospital workers and a newspaper guild were also on strike.
National TV hearings on Rep. Gerald Ford's VP nomination left House Republicans optimistic about confirmation though some opposition persisted. Senate Rules Committee completed two days of grilling and a parade of lawmakers praised Ford as witnesses were to testify behind closed doors.

A Tehama County sampling reports slow but steady turnout for Governor Ronald Reagan's tax limitation initiative in Red Bluff and Corning precincts, with lighter turnout in Los Molinos. Voters largely adapt to the IBM punch card system, with precinct worker Betty Metherd noting it is fast and easy.
In an election eve statewide tour Governor Reagan calls his proposal a taxpayer's bill of rights. He says the plan would trigger a campaign against the measure and that it would raise local property taxes, a claim he disputes. Polls were open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The Senate Watergate committee voted to seek an informal meeting with President Nixon to discuss Watergate. Lawyers would visit the White House to explore a possible conference and a transcript of any questions and Nixon replies would be released. Rose Mary Woods may be summoned to testify about the tapes and missing recordings as Sirica ordered.
The Northern California Wool Growers annual dinner at Tehama County Fairground highlighted state and county sheep industry reports and the election of a new president. Larry Alvares of Flournoy was chosen to succeed George Flournoy as president with Jim Davies and Tony Alvares also elected to officers, and Shirley Davis reelected secretary.
