Washington AP reports April grocery prices climbed again though housing and transportation costs rose more slowly. The consumer price index reached 120.2, meaning $12.02 per $1000 of typical family purchases, from the 1967 base. The Labor Department notes the index is 43 percent higher than a year earlier, the smallest annual rise in nearly three years.
Tehama County Board of Realtors will meet Monday at noon at the Crystal Cafe in Red Bluff. The program features speakers from Lake California Corporation.
Supporters met in the courthouse supervisors room and tacitly approved a board of directors and funding plan for Tehama County Development Company. The organization aims to create jobs and payrolls, with 50 000 shares authorized at 10 each but initial offering limited to five shares per buyer to broaden ownership.

One of the largest crowds attended the Tehama Totem Fairground banquet for the Red Bluff High School FFA. Merl Howland was named State Farmer, the highest award for a high school member. Awards honored members, with Canavan as master of ceremonies and several Bank of America and Kiwanis recognitions.
