Cancer Crusade Nears Tehama County Goal
Tehama County Crusade progress shows $1 278 remaining to reach a $6000 county target as part of the 1969 Cancer Crusade. From the Chico office of the Butte Glenn Tehama branch the three county quota totals $34 200 with $17 187 60 collected to date. Local Red Bluff volunteers report $3592 85, Los Molinos unit $739 25, Corning $390 10. A board meeting May 28 at Blue Gum Lodge Willows will feature Dr Jerome A Weinbaum on cancer of the uterus.

Red Bluff Student Excels In Elks Most Valuable Student Contest
Miss Jeanette Marie McGarva senior at Red Bluff High School placed sixth nationally among entrants from all 50 states in the Elks Lodge Most Valuable Student awards. She won a $1,000 college scholarship and chose the Bible Institute of Los Angeles in La Mirada for a $400 scholarship. Daughter of Mr and Mrs George McGarva she began in Red Bluff then statewide top three finish made national eligibility. She has won two other $400 scholarships including California Bankers Award and the Dr Pasden Memorial Scholarship. Her sister won a similar award last year, marking Red Bluff High School's first such recognition since 1955.

Body recovered from Black Butte Reservoir identified as David Isacs
The body of 19 year old David Isacs of Orland was found in Black Butte Reservoir on the Glenn County side and taken to Sweet Mor tuary in Orland. Deputies said Isacs disappeared May 5 after a boating mishap reported by companions Sidney Burt and Darrell Daigle.

Red Bluff Boy Struck By Car On First Street
Ronald Copeland ten. of 647 Cowles Ave Red Bluff was hit while riding a bicycle by Jill Smith twenty six of Red Bluff on First Street near the high school parking lot. He was treated at St Elizabeth Hospital then released.

Car strike on Antelope Blvd injures three
Peggy Louise Metcalf 17 Red Bluff drove a 1961 Chevrolet west when a horse ran onto Antelope Blvd. The car struck the animal and three passengers Pamela 13 and Nora Northcutt 17 both of Red Bluff were treated for minor injuries at St. Elizabeth Hospital and released. Moderate damage occurred to the car.

Nixon Thieu to Meet at Midway on June 8
President Nixon and South Vietnamese Chief of State Nguyen Van Thieu will fly to Midway Island on June 8 for a one day meeting to discuss a common policy toward a peaceful solution to the Vietnam War.
