U S aircraft sank three Cambodian gunboats and damaged about four others amid retaliation over the Khmer Rouge seizure of the merchant ship Mayaguez. The Pentagon said captives may have been moved from Koh Tang. 39 Americans are aboard the vessel. A destroyer escort Holt and the carrier USS Coral Sea moved toward the area as 1,100 Marines waited in Thailand for orders.
