Tehama City Council approves loan application steps

Tehama voters may still approve any borrowing. City Council adopts a resolution authorizing Ed Anderson city engineer to submit a state loan application of 70000 to improve the water system. The plan includes piping upgrades and a larger 500 gallon per minute pump over a 40 year repayment term.

Weekend Weather With Showers For High Mountain Areas

The forecast calls for high clouds and fall weather on the weekend with afternoon showers over the high mountains. Temperatures will be warmer with a high of 95 today and 97 Sunday. Winds will be light and variable. River levels show Lake Red Bluff at 15.7 feet, Bend Bridge 21.9 feet, Woodson Bridge 171.0 feet above mean sea level. No precipitation in the last 24 hours. Supervisors To Hear Report On County Development Plan

Tehama County supervisors will hear a report on the county development plan Tuesday afternoon at 1 30 with the planning committee. The plan, prepared under H Richard Maguire, may see a new chair designated as Maguire has resigned. The plan covers agriculture natural resources tourism and education and seeks Title II redevelopment designation under the 1965 act. Other Tuesday appearances include the road commissioner at 9 a.m probation department at 10 and the welfare director at 10 30.

James A. Flores Funeral Monday

Funeral services for James Allen Flores aged 39 are set for Monday at 2 p.m. at Hoyt Cole Chapel of the Flowers. He died Thursday evening after an extended illness in a local hospital. Burial will be in the Veterans Plot at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Governor Reagan Sets Radio TV Address On Tax Reform

Sacramento AP reports Governor Reagan will explain the administration tax reform program in a half hour radio and TV broadcast Sunday. He will be assisted by Finance Director Caspar Weinberger and Assembly Republican Leader W Crale Biddle, author of the legislation.

Stover Case Transferred To Juvenile Court

In Corning California an alleged theft from a car involving Douglas Stover of Paskenta has been transferred to juvenile court in Red Bluff. Stover, age 18, was listed as 17 at the time of the incident prompting the transfer. A preliminary hearing had been set in Corning Justice Court.

Muddy, snag filled water search for missing girl

The Sacramento River search for four year old girl feared drowned continued into its third day. Divers and a helicopter combed the river and banks near Battle Creek where the boat capsized, but visibility was poor and no sign of the girl or boat was found.

US Marines Slay 129 North Vietnamese Near Da Nang

U S Marines fighter bombers and artillery battered an area south of Da Nang. After a daylong assault Marines counted 129 North Vietnamese bodies, part of a broader effective sweep as planes joined ground forces.

Red Bluff High Pool Closed For Repair

Red Bluff Union High School pool closed due to a faulty filter. County Health Department inspection found substandard conditions. The pool was drained and will stay shut until a regulated chlorinating system is installed.

Plea Planned Monday in Tehama County murder case

Ernest Kenneth Darnell of Orland faces a murder charge for the stabbing death of Lynn Douglas Pitman Jr. in Corning near the Olive City Cafe. The incident followed a dispute from the prior evening. Darnell also carries four prior felonies. Witness Janice Purcell testified, noting Darnell's calm before and after the stabbing and his later admission to police.
