Nixon seeks one year extension of income tax surcharge
President Nixon will ask Congress to extend the 10 percent income tax surcharge for another full year to combat inflation. Senate Leader Dirksen and House Leader Ford said this after a White House meeting, noting the surcharge ends July 1 and the budget must be a key anti inflation weapon.
