Donald Ray Ashburn 29 of Gerber was charged with malice aforethought murder after a car strike killed 12 year old Thad E. Blanchard III Sunday. He was arraigned in Red Bluff Justice Court and held without bail awaiting a Wednesday preliminary hearing. Ashburn also faced a robbery charge from last week in Corning.
