Viet Cong rocket and mortar strikes eased to about a third of the prior night as U S and Allied sources warned of a possible pause in an 18 day offensive. US reports say thousands of Communist troops yet to be committed and a fresh wave could come any day. In five ground fights 126 Viet Cong and North Vietnamese and 10 Americans died, with 76 enemy killed in an abortive convoy ambush near Dau Tieng. eight Americans were wounded.
