The Labor Department reports February unemployment fell to 7.6 percent, the lowest since 1974, with 150,000 fewer jobless and total employment at 86.3 million. Nonfarm payrolls rose 210,000 as the labor force held at 93.5 million.

Sacramento reports secretary of state March Fong Eu rescinded the appointment of her chief attorney S Waynne Bunyan to the Fair Political Practices Commission after Bunyan issued an opinion urging county clerks to register imprisoned felons as voters.
