Last Rites for Ursula Zimmerman Held in Orland
Funeral services were conducted yesterday at First Lutheran Church Orland for Ursula Vielmetti Zimmerman 85 long time Kirkwood resident who died July 20 in an Orland rest home. She was widow of Balthasar Zimmerman a former dairyman. Surviving are six sons John Frank Fred Martin Earl of Chico Thomas of Red Bluff and others plus 17 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Burial followed at Sunset Hill Cemetery Corning by FD Sweet and Son Mortuary.

Anna Marie Trutter aged 81 died Wednesday at St Elizabeth Hospital. A Requiem Mass was held yesterday at Sacred Heart Church Red Bluff with Rev Aiden O Reilly presiding. Interment followed at St Marys Cemetery. Pallbearers were Marvin Skinner Bryant Brady Charles Crain Tony Fraga Bob Douglas and Odis Glass. Hoyt Cole Chapel of the Flowers handled arrangements.

Hijacker shot as attempt to fly to Milan fails

Fire destroys 1000 acres of barley field west of Willows
California Division of Forestry crews fought a fast spreading barley and stubble fire on a ranch west of Willows in Glenn County burning 1000 acres for over four hours. Volunteers alerted by a harvester spark at 3 20 p.m. aided by 31 ground units three air tankers and 84 firefighters with $4500 in damage and no structures lost.
