Screen Writer Sally Benson Dies After Long Illness
Sally Benson, 71, author of Meet Me In St. Louis and screenwriter for National Velvet, Little Women, and Anna and the King of Siam, died after a lengthy illness at the Motion Picture and Television Hospital in Woodland Hills. She had been hospitalized since October 1970. Benson also wrote for The New Yorker under the pen name Esther Evarts.
