Fishermen Locate Missing Body Of Herbert Kallstrom

The body of Herbert A. Kallstrom, longtime Dairyville resident and former Red Bluff radar site employee, was found yesterday by fishermen near Crescent City after a boat capsize at the mouth of the Klamath River. His wife Hilda survives. funeral services are planned Friday at Wiers Funeral Home in Crescent City.

Famed Balloonist Aims for Altitude Record in Air Round Up

World renowned Col Donald Picard plans to attempt a hot air balloon altitude record at the Red Bluff Air Round-Up on August 28 and 29. Officials note he uses a new Aerostat balloon and believes the current record near 25 000 feet will be challenged.

Corning High approves lights bus and curriculum adds

Corning High School trustees approved spending 4889.50 for eight new football field lights and 4000 for a 16 passenger van to transport athletes and band members. They also funded a 200 art patio cover and added psychology and advanced reading as elective courses. A 500 donation from Pete Craig helped install a scoreboard with Coca Cola support. The budget hearing is set for August 4.

U S Bombers Strike Near DMZ In Heavy Raid

U S B52 bombers dropped 600 tons on suspected North Vietnamese positions near the DMZ, the heaviest raids in about two weeks. Vietnamese and Viet Cong shelling at bases near the frontier line caused no reported casualties, with targets including Camp Fuller and Alpha 1 and Alpha 2.

Vandals Strike Tyler Road Plant Spilling Diesel

Tehama County deputies investigate weekend vandalism at the Gibbons and Reed Construction Company on Tyler Road. Officials report theft of several pages and other equipment. Vandals opened a valve on a diesel tank, spilling 300 gallons of fuel on the ground.

Three Sentenced In Tehama Marijuana Case In Manton Area

Three young men pleaded guilty to planting and cultivating marijuana in the Manton area and faced sentencing in Tehama County Superior Court. Judge Curtiss E. Wetter gave Curtiss Bruce Paul 23 a four month jail term and 250 dollar fine with five years probation. Steve Donald Smith 20 received four years probation and a 250 dollar fine with 20 days behind bars at 36 hours a week. Theodore Telefson 20 was indicted on additional charges and sentencing on planting and cultivating marijuana was postponed to July 26.
