Tehama County Band To Perform At California State Fair

The Tehama County Band plans nightly shows at the fair from July 19 to 22 at the grandstand. Led by Director F M Doty of Anderson for 20 years, with Drum Major Mike Compton of Red Bluff, the 35 member group follows a parade route and a mid grounds mini concert before the main bandstand performance. Don Crane of Chico serves as president with Compton as vice president. The band plans to wear western uniforms and aims for its 21st consecutive appearance at the California State Fair and Exposition, starting Sept 3.

Red Bluff Airport runway study pursuit gains city backing

Red Bluff commissioners will seek federal funds to study a runway extension at the Red Bluff Airport. Diamond International Corp and Commander Industries push for hangar expansion and a 10 year lease extension as part of broader runway considerations. Budget For Antelope School District Tax Override On Agenda

Trustees meet at 8 p.m. in Edith Carpenter library to review the Antelope School District budget and a 1971-72 indebtedness report and to publicize the July 25 tax override election. Superintendent Jack Marshall will explain new state funding laws and options if the override fails.

Trustees from Red Bluff High School and Elementary districts convene a 8 o'clock joint district office meeting to review the proposed classified salary schedule, superintendent report, driver training contracts, and other budget items before splitting for separate agendas. The elementary board will move to the adjacent reading center.

The United Christian Youth of Red Bluff hosts its first city park rally Friday at 7 30 p m featuring The Churchmen from Fresno. Red Bluff Air Round-Up to Charge Admission this Year

The Red Bluff Air Round-Up Association will charge $1 for adult admission and 25 cents for children at the 10th annual show August 26-27 at the airport. Seven acts and two military flyovers are scheduled, with acts from Bellingham Hollister Oakland Yuba City Fresno and Daly City. An Air Force squadron will perform August 26 followed by a Phantom Jets flyover on August 27.

Corning city leaders consider joining the federal Council on Criminal Justice program and review whether the city is already part of it. On the agenda are a Teen Council report Jackson Heights lighting park improvements recreation programs and a swimming pool report. The commission will discuss the citys tennis court situation consider employment of a night duty maintenance man and set a date for a Battle Creek tour.
