The 1968 Tehama Totem Fair reminds exhibitors that entry forms must be postmarked by Friday July 5 and that no entries are accepted after 5 PM. First time entrants need only submit completed forms, the new junior Clothing and Textiles class includes apron blouse dress and skirt with no entry fee and top prizes of 2 and 1.50. U.S. Regrets Soviet Release of Grounded DC-8
The White House said the Soviet government ordered the release of a troop laden DC-8 chartered by the U S military with 229 aboard after Washington expressed regret the craft violated Soviet air space over the Kurile Islands. The jet was forced to land by Soviet MiGs while en route to Vietnam via Japan.

Nephews Death Revealed for Army Sargeant Rowe Jr
Mr and Mrs Arthur Banta of Los Molinos learn of their nephew Army Sergeant James Gray Rowe Jr losing his life in Vietnam. He was killed in heavy fighting near the demilitarized zone a month before discharge while serving with the First Cavalry Airmobile. Rowe was the son of Mr and Mrs J Gary Rowe of Davis and had fought in three major battles.
