Government data show Dec price rise of 0.2 percent while 1968 average living costs jumped 4.7 percent the largest since 1951. Wages rose 5.5 percent but price gains eroded most of the advance. Major retail increases came in medical care clothing and housing.

Funeral services for Pvt. Michael Weeks 21 will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Portland Oregon. Weeks a Red Bluff California native and Red Bluff High School graduate died of wounds in Vietnam on January 22. Interment follows at Riverview Cemetery in Portland. Contributions may be sent to the Patient Welfare Fund VA Hospital Portland Oregon. Tet festival and Vietnamese holiday remarks accompany the notice with wartime cease-fire notes from Viet Cong and Saigon officials.
