Air Cavalry uncovers major Viet Cong supply base near Saigon

American air cavalrymen seized the second largest munitions stockpile of the war after a helicopter sweep along the Cambodian border north of Saigon. Grading and sifting of 65 short horn and 50 Angus bulls began at Tehama County Fairgrounds as the Red Bluff Bull and Gelding Sale starts. Cattlemen gather tonight for a dinner at 7 p.m. featuring Ken Ellis. The event marks the 28th annual sale with judging and prizes, including the $100 Abner McKenzie Working Cowhorse Trophy.

Students Help City Hall Hiring Two Local Seniors

City council approves two student hires for Red Bluff City Hall under the Work Experience Program. Dennis Fischer of Chico State earns 1.85 an hour from Feb 10 to May 29 for a total of 666, while Andrea Vidaure of Red Bluff High School works as a fire department typist at 1.25 an hour for 375 in the spring term.

Tehama County names Lynn Raymond county planner

The Tehama County board of supervisors appointed Lynn Raymond, formerly executive secretary of the planning commission, as county planner. Raymond will resign from the planning board to avoid conflict of interest, and another commissioner will be chosen from the unrepresented 4th district. The land division ordinance created the new office and Raymond has served part time at $300 monthly while handling planner duties. The board also set a public hearing for an underground utilities district in Antelope and approved funds for the Richfield Volunteer Fire Department and purchase of a three wheel roller for the road department.
