Ex CHP Officer Sentenced in Extortion Case
Former California Highway Patrol officer Michael A. Axton received a 45 day public works program and two years probation after a conditional guilty plea to extortion tied to a purchase of a Walther pistol during a traffic stop on Interstate 5. Two Arrested and Two Sought in Antelope Armed Robbery
Two men and two women were involved in an early morning armed robbery at a Red Bluff area residence. Russell Howsman and Debbie Thompson, both of Redding, were arrested about 2:30 a.m. and jailed on armed robbery charges. A 16 year old Red Bluff youth was later arrested for burglary and marijuana possession. Investigators said about $250 in property was taken and no gun recovered.
