Prominent Tehama Resident Richard Boding Dies
Richard Hamilton Boding 86 a Tehama County resident died in a local hospital after a long illness. He came to Tehama County as a toddler from Meade Nebraska and lived in Proberta. Boding served Red Bluff as chamber secretary 1922 to 1927 and sports editor at Red Bluff Daily News 1927 to 1941. He was Tehama Superior Court Clerk and Deputy Clerk 1941 to 1959 and on Red Bluff City Council 1921 to 1936. He married Hazel Brearcliff in 1914 and is survived by Hazel Nelda Donald Robert and a great grandson. Funeral services pending.

SAN FRANCISCO AP The Airports Commission approved a $20,000 medical facility in the central terminal to be financed and operated by Golden Gate Medical Group led by Dr. L A Smookler. The ER will operate weekdays with a doctor nurse and X ray tech on duty and may run 24 hours if demand grows. Only Minneapolis and New York airports currently have on duty medical doctors in terminals.

Jet Crashes Into Alameda Apartments Killing Dozens
A Navy A7 Corsair slammed through the Tahoe Apartments roof in Alameda causing a large fire and debris collapse. Six bodies were found by midmorning with as many as 40 residents feared dead and at least 17 injured. Lt. Robert Lee Ward, 28, of Cary North Carolina, was the pilot and remains missing. Military investigators searched the smoldering rubble as two adjacent buildings burned and heat hampered rescue work.
