South Vietnamese Repel Attacking Force in Cambodia

North Vietnamese and Viet Cong troops attacked a South Vietnamese infantry unit near the Cambodia Vietnam border, six miles southwest of Mimot. The assault was repulsed by dawn with 74 enemy soldiers killed, while the South Vietnamese suffered 10 dead and 36 wounded. Further battles in the Mekong Delta and Binh Tuy Province also reported enemy casualties and one American fatality.

Hebert Pushes Hard Line on Vietnam War Policy

Rep. F Edward Hebert vows to keep pre military course set by late chairman Rivers. He also says the draft must continue and military spending rise with a modern Navy first priority. Hebert criticized critics as ignorant and emotional and argued bombing North Vietnam could have secured victory five years earlier. Hebert says Nixon inherits a mess and pursues the only policy he can claim as honorable. He adds he will not back down.

Jail Probation For Four In Court Here

Four Tehama County men were placed on probation in Superior Court for up to five years. Gordon Clay of Red Bluff received five years probation and 90 days in jail plus a 250 dollar fine for LSD possession and faces possible Reno prosecution for marijuana sale. Barton Canty also drew three years probation with 90 days jail and a 200 dollar fine for receiving stolen property. John Wayne Couch and Michale D. Penix received four years probation, 90 days jail, 200 dollar fines, and restitution for two counts of second degree burglary after stealing tools from a pickup.

One Car Accident Leaves Teen Paralyzed

A one car accident seriously injured 19 year old Richard O Bryan of Red Bluff. He was a passenger and is paralyzed from the chest down. The incident involved a portion of an insurance settlement reported yesterday amounting to 1200 dollars.
