Low Holiday Traffic Death Toll Expected
United Press International reports the Christmas holiday traffic death toll is headed to the lowest since 1955 with NSC officials calling the rate remarkably low. The four day period saw 550 to 650 deaths originally forecast as miles driven and speeds slow. California led with 46 fatalities followed by Texas 40 Georgia 27 and New York 24. A family of five perished in Oregon and eight died in Michigan from trailer fires during the holiday.
