City council learned Judge Curtiss Wetters may approve transferring street title from trust held since 1867 to the city. Corning has achieved 42 percent of its $4 000 United Fund goal with about $1 700 collected. Tehama County chairman R J Randy Jalli said the county total exceeds 70 percent with over $21 500 raised toward a $31 500 goal. He spoke with Corning Chamber of Commerce directors yesterday.
George Arthur Shepard, 28, of Gerber, struck a 1000 pound Angus cow on San Benito Avenue at 6 p.m. The front of his car suffered major to total damage. The cow, owned by Glenn Miller of Gerber, was on the road and could not be avoided.
