Tehama General Hospital gains time to avoid loss of Medi-Cal and Medicare payments as state extends deadline to Dec 1 or until its Joint Commission survey is completed. Senator Fred Marler Jr and Dr Earl Ryan facilitated the extension with county officials in Sacramento.
Acting FBI Director L. Patrick Gray reportedly told officials he destroyed papers taken from a White House safe tied to Watergate figures. He said he did not know if they related to the bugging case when burned after a meeting with John Ehrlichman and John Dean.
Freshman Assemblyman Laurence Kapiloff proposes removing property tax on most homes and raising state income taxes for higher earners to ease the burden on working people. Irene Ryan known as Granny Clampett of The Beverly Hillbillies died at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica after suffering a stroke during a Saturday matinee March 10. She had just won a Tony Award for Pippin on Broadway.
John S. Galso 31 of San Jose was chosen as Red Bluff Director of Parks and Recreation succeeding John Suhr who left in February for Woodland. Galso, supervisor in the Los Gatos Saratoga District since 1968, will start June 4 and holds BS and MS in recreation administration from California State University at San Jose.
Fire fighters and police associations told Red Bluff City Council they plan to seek unionization and professional representation. Employees' Association members expressed satisfaction with the current setup. Harold Schoelen, police association president, urged a professional negotiator to handle talks.
