Weather outlook shows mild temperatures with showers possible

Fair conditions continue this afternoon through Wednesday with slightly warmer weather on Wednesday. Highs reach the 70s today and mid 70s to low 80s on Wednesday, cooler tonight, with 5 to 15 mph winds. Rain likely Thursday then mostly fair Friday and Saturday. 10 percent chance of rain tomorrow. River levels listed at multiple locations. Sunset tonight at 6 42 p.m. and sunrise tomorrow at 5 37 a.m.

Top Riders Returning To 1973 Round-Up

Six of the seven top saddle bronc riders from 1972 are returning to Red Bluff Round-Up with Christensen Brothers and Flying A Rodeo supplying bucking stock. Veterans include Darryl Kong of Australia J C Bonine of Hysham Montana and Joe Alexander of Cora Wyoming. The event April 21 22 offers saddle bronc bareback bull riding calf and team roping plus a wild horse race. Entry fees add to a 5600 purse.

Round-Up Kids Day at Red Bluff Round-Up April 21

Youngsters through eighth grade admitted Saturday April 21 at Red Bluff Fairgrounds for a dollar. Rodeo features girls barrel racing four horse races trick riding rides and wild horse events. Tickets available at 245 Pine Street Red Bluff. Welfare rolls drop 9000 in February and rose 17000 the prior year.

Massive Midwestern Wind Snow Storm Paralyzes Midwest

A massive spring storm dumped record snow across the Midwest, halting traffic and business. Winds drove waves from Great Lakes shorelines, temperatures plummeted, and at least 18 people died while shoveling or pushing vehicles. Meat prices rose slightly amid supply disruptions and boycotts.

Report on Lincoln Street School Future Planned Tonight

A special study group will present its findings on Lincoln Street School’s disposition at a 6 p.m. Crystal Tavern dinner meeting. The Tehama County Board of Supervisors and the Superintendent of Schools will hear recommendations from a commission including the county board of education, supervisors, district attorney’s office, county auditor and welfare director on options such as lease purchase to the schools department or transferring fiscal responsibility to the superintendent’s office.

Meetings Set On Garbage Transfer Stations For Two Communities

County engineer Larry Coleman announces public meetings to discuss Corning and Los Molinos garbage transfer stations. The Corning session is April 18 at 7 30 p.m. in Corning Veterans Memorial Hall and the Los Molinos session is April 25 at 7 30 p.m. in Los Molinos Veterans Memorial Hall. Deputy County Surveyor Ken Burton and contractor Maynard Ellis of Earth Moving will attend.

Merrill Memorial site chosen in Red Bluff River Park
