Tehama Council Approves Water and Street Projects
Tehama City Council authorized bids on two projects totaling about 73000 dollars. A 66000 dollar water line from Tehama Elementary School property will install 7440 feet of six inch pipe 400 feet of four inch pipe 100 feet of two and a half inch pipe 41 service connections five hydrants nine hydrant connections 27 gate valves six corporation stops and pump enclosure with a 160 foot six foot high chain link fence. The second project reconstructs I Street from the river to Fifth Street at about three and a half blocks for 7700 dollars. A public hearing on an underground utilities district was continued two months. Residents oppose four to one and one indifferent. Mayor Stromsness seeks extension to reduce cost and suggests volunteer trenching. Council also okayed planting three trees in the park near the city jail and Stromsness will join the dump board to address waste disposal with Red Bluff and Corning. Open burning ends after Jan 1 1972 and Red Bluff site remains sole viable facility for trench and cover operations for about a year per County Road Commissioner Coleman.
