Colorful outfits and varied costumes marked Red Bluffs downtown Kids Parade themed Easter In The Old West. Horses outnumbered motorized bikes as 600 entries from six to twelve years old traveled from park to county courthouse in the Downtown Merchants event.

South Vietnamese forces claimed a six hour battle around Firebase No 6 left 900 North Vietnamese regulars dead and the 28th Regiment decimated. Officials reported 41 South Vietnamese killed and 57 wounded. air strikes and artillery hit Hanoi troops estimated at 550 plus 350 at the base. Sources warned higher allied casualties over two days. The 28th Regiment, a seasoned highlands unit, was said to have faced more than 2,000 men.

Theodore Joseph Adams 43, of Antelope, died after a single car crash on Interstate 5 southbound at Jellys Ferry Road. He was taken to St Elizabeth Hospital then transferred to Redding Memorial Hospital with head and leg injuries, dying at 12 10 am. The car reportedly went out of control, struck a curb and embankment, and overturned after being ejected from the door. Investigators cited a possible high-speed blowout as a theory.
Wiley W Rose of Corning, age 53, died yesterday in an Auburn hospital after a three week hospitalization. A Dustin Oklahoma native who moved to Corning in 1941, he was long employed as an agricultural worker. Surviving are his mother Mrs Sarah Rose and four sisters Virginia Rybarczyk Lorene Cannyall Opa Rosen Maurine Morrison and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services set for 2 pm Tuesday at Hall Brothers Chapel with burial at Sunset El Cemetery.
Egypt's President Anwar Sadat warned that fighting at the Suez Canal could resume by month’s end if Israel does not respond to his peace proposal. Al Ahram quoted Sadat saying April "shall decide between a solution and war" and urged the US and UN to define their position this month.
A drug awareness group met in the Red Bluff City Council chamber Thursday night. A board of directors meeting is set for April 14 and open to the public. About 45 persons attended and 14 of 24 queried respondents answered positively.
