Citizens raise a sund to pay the fine of David Pollock a white man charged with violating the local location law after a beating at the county road camp Pollock remains jailed under physician care Commissioners Hickman and Overseer Boone released on bond and set for a hearing October 17.
The New York Republicans back Henry L. Stimson on a progressive platform as mayor Gaynor declines the nomination. Edward M. Shepard, a leading New York lawyer, is favored with other contenders like Jamey H. Havens and Herman Ridder mentioned. Gaynor’s rejection harms the party while Roosevelt is seen as likely to lead if the platform shifts.
In Chicago the Democratic Party gained 20000 votes while the Republican side shed 100006 votes, a dramatic shift that has caused consternation among Republicans and concern in party circles.
General freight agents and railroad representatives from across Texas arrive in Austin for a hearing with the State Railroad Commission. The commission will press for uniform negotiable bills of lading under the new law.
