Arrivals from Mexico report Marvin K. Simmons a former Denton boy and Decatur family member holds a captain’s commission under Major Manuel Ramirez in the Federal army. He commands a volunteer force aiding in San Luis Potosi, earning fame as a crack shot feared by bandits.
Berlin reports Prof. Heinrich Maas the German court painter shot and killed Court Chamberlain Von Westernhagen, captain of the army reserves, during a court of honor where a duel was being arranged after a slap by Westernhagen.
