Floods and cloudbursts swept Hamilton and Comanche counties as the Leon river bottom flooded twelve miles downstream. Six dead in Hamilton and seven in Comanche for a total of thirteen, with others reported dead. Many residents awoke in night clothes as homes and crops were destroyed and livestock lost.
Seven people are dead and six houses swept away after a Leonard River flood thirteen miles east of Comanche. The wall of water twenty five feet high destroyed bridges and crops worth thousands, with several bodies recovered and others still missing. Local residents report more losses near Hamilton.
Several minor cases on the docket are disposed of for the term finally in district court, finalizing pending matters and closing entries for the term.

In Hamilton Texas the local option election held yesterday including Hico and Carleton precincts produced a victory for the prohibitionists by an estimated 300 vote majority. The campaign was hard fought and drew great interest from residents.
A lone bandit boarded the Burlington overland fast express in the yards at Union Station St. Louis and killed the flagman of the rear sleeper before robbing several passengers of valuables.

Governor Campbell signed the insurance bill passed by the present legislature with an emergency clause but failed to secure the required two thirds vote. The measure will not become law until ninety days after adjournment.
A wrangle in the Senate over how to proceed with a conference on the penitentiary bill halted the conference committee on Tuesday. They will delay adjournment for one or two days, with expectations that the tangle will be cleared up today.
