An explosion of gas in Marshall injured sixteen people, two seriously, and caused about 59000 in property damage. The blast wrecked the Merzbacher Kelly drug store building housing Marcus Karie clothing store and the H R Stephens barber shop.
Washington reports Secretary of Agriculture Jas. Wilson will resign on March 4 after sixteen years in the post. Attorney General Wickersham also announced plans to quit next year, irrespective of national election outcomes.
Official dispatches report three of four gunboats at Vera Cruz taken by Gen. Felix Diaz. The remaining royal boat is blocked by the rebels, unable to obtain provisions.

Contractor Robt A Smith said Bridgie Webber boasted of killing Rosenthal and sleeping with him. Jack Sullivan described a gamblers conspiracy to frame Becker. Prosecutor Whitman testified about stipulations with key witnesses.
Official word from Chicago reports Col. Roosevelt will depart the hospital for Oyster Bay on Monday forenoon. He intends to resume duties and return to public life after his convalescence.
Col. Roosevelt has received bales of letters from all over the United States. Less than two hundred have been answered so far. His secretaries will ship the rest by express to Oyster Bay.

B F Yoakum of the Frisco lines urged a National Marketing association for farmers at the Southwestern Truck Growers meeting in Dallas. He cited a national market bureau and said Governor Wilson supports its creation. Yoakum claimed American farmers pay 510 million dollars annually in interest on three loans, 200 million more than needed.
