The county commissioners met for routine business. They approved Sam Hawkins’s monthly report and updated field notes for school districts 38 Drop and 57 Justin. An order on School District 66 was entered and $5,000 in school bonds authorized. The court planned to adjourn Tuesday afternoon.
A fire early Sunday morning at the Denton Oil Mill and Gincompay plant burned about one bale of cotton valued around 60 to 75 dollars. The blaze damaged two bales but did not spread, and the origin is unknown though a lit cigarette on the platform is a leading theory.

Reports say heavily armed convicts trapped in a canyon south of Rawlings with shots heard at the penitentiary overnight. A posse has not attacked and no confirmation of the alleged battle inside the walls.
Associated Press dispatch reports a second gang member from the Sun Day escape was captured near Rawlings Wyoming by Bert Talbert, a livery stable owner who was wounded during the pursuit. A riot at the state penitentiary left 2 dead and 20 to 40 prisoners free. more escapes and recaptures followed.

Funeral services for Mrs Anne Theresa Butler held at her Pearl Street home on Saturday afternoon after a three day illness. Elder C E Wooldridge of the Church of Christ presided. Interment followed in the Odd Fellows cemetery. Pallbearers included T F Jasper J W Shaw W W Barton A Musgraves. Curtis drug store and J W Shaw photograph studio noted as recalling staff in respect to attend.
